What is spidernaevi?

The team at GPnotebook are continually working on the clinical content of the site to ensure that it meets the quality and relevance that practising doctors need. But we do not pretend that we are the best at everything - there are other valuable resources of clinical information on the internet.

The spidernaevi project is an initiative that brings together the content of excellent clinical websites and allows our users convenient access. When you use GPnotebook you can continually keep an eye on what else is available on a particular topic.

Our clients commonly use spidernaevi to answer the following problems:

How does spider naevi work?

The GPnotebook team have chosen six of the websites that we use ourselves (click for more...). The spidernaevi robot visits all the pages on these sites. We ensure that the spider only samples pages at off-peak times and does not in any way interfere with the performance of the sites. We find keywords in the webpages and use these to determine the relevance of the webpage to each of the 12,000 headline pages in GPnotebook. We currently index 100,000 webpages and generate over 20 million links between GPnotebook and the target websites. Algorithms developed in-house allow us to find the most relevant links for each page of GPnotebook - you can see these links on the right of the screen under the spidernaevi logo.
